Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

In short: your loyalty cards stay on your phone. There are no accounts, no adverts and nothing is sold. If you choose to, the app sends anonymous usage information to help us improve it, and you can turn that off at any time.

Who we are

WildCards is an iPhone app made by Pete Wildman in London, UK. For anything about privacy, email hello@wildcards.uk.

Your loyalty cards

The cards you add (scheme name, card number or barcode, and any picture of the card) are stored only on your iPhone. We never receive them. Deleting a card in the app, or deleting the app, removes them.

Your location

While WildCards is open, it uses your iPhone's location to work out which shop you're in. To do that, it asks Apple Maps which shops are nearby, so your location is sent to Apple for that search, under Apple's privacy policy. WildCards does not use your location in the background and never sends it to us.

A record of which card was shown, and roughly where, is kept on your phone so you can check how well the app guesses. It stays on your phone unless you choose to export it and send it to us.

Camera and photos

The camera is used only when you choose to scan a card. Photos are read only when you add a card from a picture or screenshot; just after you join a scheme, the app looks for a screenshot you took in the last 30 minutes so it can read your new card. Pictures are not uploaded anywhere.

Anonymous usage data (optional)

If you agree on the welcome screen or in Settings, WildCards sends anonymous usage events to TelemetryDeck, an analytics service based in the EU. These tell us things like:

We do not send your name, email address, card numbers, pictures, the names you type for your own cards, or your exact location. TelemetryDeck receives an anonymised identifier for your device so we can count users without knowing who they are, plus basic technical details such as the iOS version and app version.

You can turn this off at any time in WildCards: Cards tab, the ⚙︎ Settings button, then "Share anonymous usage".

Signing up to schemes

When you tap "Join", the retailer's own sign-up page opens, or the App Store for schemes that use an app. Anything you enter there goes to that retailer under its own privacy policy. WildCards can't see what you type on those pages.

Feedback

If you send feedback through TestFlight or by email, we receive what you send, including your email address and any screenshots, and use it only to improve WildCards.

Children

WildCards isn't intended for children under 13.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what information we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Because cards stay on your phone and usage data is anonymous, we usually hold nothing that identifies you, apart from any emails you've sent us. Contact hello@wildcards.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
